Please note that this was a combined photoshoot with the super talented and dear friend Sotiris Tsakanikas.
Planning a romantic destination getaway for two can easily turn into a super-romantic wedding proposal. Evoking the feeling of carefree abandon and understated luxury there is no better place to turn this pivotal moment in a couple’s life into an unforgettable event than the uber-romantic ambiance of Santorini island.
That was our thought behind designing and styling this poignant milestone. Thousands of couples dream of vacating in Santorini to experience the magic of its shifting sky and sea palettes, out of which crepuscular hues are definitely the winning ones!
Imerovigli (translating as the Daykeeper in the local lingo) nicknamed as the balcony of Santorini is the highest point of the caldera edge and the spectacular views of the volcano from Vallais Villa convinced us it was just the place for this incredible moment in time.
Our wish was to create an intimate scene where beautiful elements, greenery, and vibrant pops would not only frame the event but symbolize the three steps into wedded life. The proposal, the engagement, and the marriage. Surrounding us with stunning vistas, the checkered terrace of Vallais Villa set the initial stage while the sweet peach palette of the skies during the shoot shed the milkiest rose light on the scene.
We worked with Betty Flowers Santorini into incorporating tropical foliage into our arrangements, monstera leaves, Birds of Paradise, exotic cymbidium orchids in yellow and green, Anthurium flowers and proteas. Three classical Santorini wooden frames were set on the balcony for the big moment, while peacock armchairs and colonial furnishings provided the space for our couple to enjoy their early cocktail on the veranda.
Atelier Zolotas dressed our bride-to-be in a flowing boho-inspired dress from their newest Hellenic Vintage Collection just perfect for languid afternoons on the caldera while Bella and Renia our MUAH artists gave her a natural summer updo with fresh florals and bronzed makeup inspired by the Altuzarra runway. The idea was to bring to mind the light tan that one might end up with after spending a full day exploring a new destination or lounging on a Santorini beach. It paired well with peachy eyeshadow and a hint of highlighter.
We are thankful to have worked alongside this team of wonderful creatives and we owe special gratitude to Sotiris Tsakanikas and Andreas Markakis who so beautifully encapsulated the elegance of our vision in their images. It is no secret that the wedding and event industry in Santorini has begun to thrive and aside from weddings, it can elevate any milestone into a truly sensational experience.
